WHAT IS LOVE IF YOU’RE NOT HERE WITH ME?
WHAT IS LOVE IF IT’S NOT GUARANTEED?
WHAT IS LOVE IF IT JUST UPS AND LEAVES?
WHAT IS LOVE IF YOU’RE NOT HERE NO MORE?
WHAT IS LOVE IF YOU’RE NOT REALLY SURE?
WHAT IS LOVE?
WHAT IS LOVE?

I dream about it, I read about it, I imagine it, I fantasize about it
I want it, I breathe it, I crave it everyday
I want to live it.
I imagine it like a fictional novel, being swept off my feet, being treated like a queen, having my breath taken away…
As I awaken from my daydream, all I see is pain, misery and sorrow.
Who wants a marriage full of resentment, selfishness and hateful silences?
Not me.
Feeling hopeless, doomed and alone. Is there any point?
In hoping and wishing and praying and looking for The One?
Everyday, I try and wake with a renewed faith in love and then like a broken record, I am disappointed again.
The Bible says men and women are meant to be as one, but the men I see today are wannabe gangsters and absent fathers, hanging on street corners, trying to get quick money.
What hope do I have in today’s society where men make my skin crawl and the words that come out of my mouth make me seem like a radical feminist?
I thought one day, I would have nice children, but with a man who does not just have the ascribed title of a man, but who earned the title of a man and who provides for his children.
One day?
Maybe?
I’ll just continue to work on myself and hope that the man God has waiting for me comes around and will put all of my doubts to rest.
