Dear Mum,
If you are not a God-send.
You loved me at my most unlovable moments; and what means the world is that you had no reason to, you didn’t have to stay, you didn’t have to care, but you did and still do.
No one understands how much of a blessing you were and still are to me.
I love that we are so alike in some ways, but that also has its downside. When we don’t get along, you can cut the tension with a knife.
You love hard and sometimes that can come across abrasive, but I know you mean well.
All I pray for is that we can continue our bond and that no matter how difficult some conversations may be, that we can have an honest and understanding dialogue. We don’t always have to agree, but I would love if we can both be open to accepting each other’s decisions, feelings and opinions.
I trust that you’ll always love me. But I need to know that you’ll accept that I am my own human being and I reserve the right to make my own decisions and that no matter my mistakes, they do not taint how you’ve parented me. As a parent there’s always a time to hover and then there’s the time to let go.
Just let go a little bit, I won’t be too far away and I’ll always come back home.
I love you immensely. Immensely ❤️
You’ll always be the woman who saved me ❤️❤️
